[MLUG] OT: Montreal datacenters

Security is awful, in general, in datacenters. In Canix, I've had a
visit of a friend who showed up late at a rendez-vous downstairs. The
guy oncall at canix happily escorted the guy upstairs to our cabinet, I
don't know what would have happened if I wasn't there...

I'm fairly sure I could get anyone inside Canix2 provided I give him the
right tips. And I'm sure the same applies to most DCs in montreal.

Another exemple: at iWeb, to get physical access to a colocated server,
all you need is the mystical server id. Once you get that, you can get a
rendez-vous and get happily escorted to the box. Nowhere is it said that
this famous server id is confidential and it's never crypted in your
communications with them.
