[MLUG] OT: Linux friendly tape backup

We use IBM Tivoli Storage Manager. We grab a copy of files which are stored
on a SAN for local and quick access to our backups. We also have an IBM tape
library that's used for offsite storage. We send every day a copy of our
backups to Recall. Soon to be Iron Mountain, Recall's not great.

For a TB of data, you almost have no choice but to use a loader/library.

As far as schedule are concerned: TSM works a bit differently than other
solutions, you run 1 full the first time then its always incrementals
afterward. I'm no expert on it, I don't take care of it, but it's a very
nice solution. Way cheaper than other commercial solutions like Netbackup
too.

And it's a cross-platform program: it runs on anything and can backup pretty
much anything you can throw at it.
